Growing Advice - Zinnia
Easy to grow - will do well in a moist, rich soil but do need good drainage and shelter or support in strong wind. Full sun and best sown direct where they are to grow in mid Spring to Summer - they enjoy the heat but may need sun protection in extremely hot conditions. Cover with 5mm soil and keep damp not wet until germination (approx 7-14 days) - thin to 15 -30cm apart - pinch out growing tip at 20cm high to encourage branching - stronger plant and more flowers - deadhead regularly to keep flowering, if harvesting for cut you can do the "wiggle test" hold stem gently around 10cm below flower and wobble the stem if it is stiff it's ok to harvest, if not it will be prone to wilting in the vase.
May be prone to powdery mildew, try to minimise watering the foliage and allow good aeration between plants.
